Gin Blossoms

Balloon Race entertainment - Gin Blossoms

A 1989 gig at the South By Southwest Music Festival led the College Music Journal to dub them the "Best Unsigned Band in America," but not for long.  A&M Records quickly signed them up.  Their second release, New Miserable Experience, sold nearly 3 million copies in the U.S. alone.  Four more singles followed...Mrs. Rita, Found Out About You, Allison Road and Until I Fall Away.

Follow You Down, spent ten weeks in the Top Ten, and As Long As It Matters earned the group a Grammy nomination for "Best Performance by a Duo or Group."

Restless Heart

Balloon Race Sunday Headliner Restless Heart

Restless Heart came together in 1983 as the by-product of a project by famed writer/producer Tim Dubois.  Since the release of their first album in 1985, their vocal style has been instantly identifiable - five part harmony led by Larry Stewart, with Dave Innis on keyboards, Greg Jennings on lead guitar, Paul Gregg on bass and drummer, John Dittrich.

Restless Heart put 26 hits on the country charts with six #1 hits and nine others in the Top Ten.  They include That Rock Won't Roll, I'll Still Be Loving You, Why Does It Have To Be Wrong Or Right, and The Bluest Eyes In Texas.

The band has garnered four Grammy nominations, seven CMA nominations, Gold Record Awards, Billboard Country Group of the Year, and Radio & Records Country Group of the Year, and much more.

Balloon Race Entertainment - George Porter Jr.

Porter not only made a deep impression with his work in The Meters, but he's notched sessions with artists like Paul McCartney, Jimmy Buffett, David Byrne, Patti LaBelle, and Robbie Robertson.  George joined The Meters in 1965, and together the group gained recognition as the ultimate fusion of rock, funk and R&B.

Called "The Father of Funk", Porter is hailed by Newsday as "The funkiest bass player in existence."  The Austin Chronicle called him a "master bassist" and Bass Player Magazine named him the "Master of New Orleans Funk."

KingBilly

KingBilly will entertain at Balloon Race

There's no official definition for the term "kingbilly," but it has been used to describe elder members of hillbilly society and billy goats.  KingBilly, like the goat, is known by its behavior and attitude.  While the goat doesn't rest until it has reached the highest point in the area, the KingBilly boys are determined to produce the best music possible, not settling until they reach the top.

Their mix of rock, country, and bluegrass gives them the chance to show off their incredible musical skills.  And like their unique brand of music, they're finding a new path to success built on friendship and musical innovation.
